CHAŁUPY WELCOME TO !

Holiday in Poland? It's thought that it isn't a great idea. A lot of people think that it's connected with a bad weather, high prices and the boredom. In my opinion, holiday in Poland may be also wonderful and full of adventures. We have got, for example interesting cities and a lot of places where you can see beauty of nature.

I'd like to describe one of my the best polish holiday destinations. It isn't too expensive, bad weather isn't there a big problem and first of all, you don't have there time to be bored.

If you like active holiday and water sports and want to have rest far from noise and rush- Chałupy it's an ideal place for you! It's a small village located in northern Poland, by the Baltic Sea and the Bay of Puck, at the beggining of the Hel Peninsula. Chałupy is known not only from Zbigniew Wodecki song and nudists' beach, but also thanks of the best weather conditions in Europe to taking up wind- and kitesurfing.

HOW CAN YOU REACH THERE?

I recommend to go by a train. From Wroclaw you have the trough train to Gdynia and there the change to Chałupy. The journey takes about 12 hours. It's long, but during this time you have a possibility to see beautiful sights, for example gold fields, morainal hills and finally amazing Bay of Puck with a plenty of wind- and kitesurfers. Thanks of going by train, you'll avoid traffic jams- in weekends you have to wait even 3 hours to drive in peninsula!

WHERE CAN YOU SLEEP?

In Chałupy there are several campsites: Chałupy I, Chałupy II, Chałupy III and so on. There you may sleep in your cottage- a day costs about 15 zł or rent a caravane for four people and pay 150 zl. Standard of campsites is better from year to year. Apart from showers, an access to the Internet and current, every campsite in Chałupy has got a surfschool, surfshop and beachbar. If you really don't like sleeping in cottage, you may stay in a private lodging which costs about 40 zł.

WHAT CAN YOU EAT?

You don't have to be afraid about food, because there are several fish-and-chip shops, where you can eat tasty fried fishes straight from morning catches.

WHAT'S ABOUT SURFING?

It is said that Chałupy is the polish Hawaii. It isn't surprising because by the Bay of Puck there are the best conditions in Europe to taking up wind- and kitesurfing- strong wind and not deep water- only about 1 m. You may learn wind- or kitesurfing in one of surfschools, for example in Funsurf. One lesson with instructor costs about 60 zł, but there are also interesting packets of lessons. After two or three lessons, you may rent equipment and swim alone. It's really wonderful sport- you' re alone only with wind and water!

WHAT'S MORE?

When you will be tired of taking up sport, you may go on the second side of peninsula, by the Baltic Sea. There you can lie on the beach and sunbathe and on evenings admire beautiful sunsets. There are also several beachbars, where you can have a great fun at the party. If you like visit, you may rent a bicycle and go along peninsula. You may also go by train to Hel or to Gdansk. To Gdansk it's only 2 hours. There you can visit a lot of interesting places and monuments. You can't forget about visit a Neptun's fountain, the Mill by the Mołtawa River and the Old Town with Dluga Street and Dlugi Targ. More about Gdansk, you'll find here: http://www.gdansk-life.com/
