A SHORT HISTORY OF THE FUTURE WITHOUT PEOPLE

I've wrote two posts, but I decided to write else about a curiosity of science. I've recently looked through my old newspapers and I noticed in "Przekrój Nauki" an interesting article. It isn't nice, I can tell that it's even a little sad. Its title is: "How will be without us?". It's a history of the future without people, shown by the example of Prypeć- a deserted place, located in Ukraine, 4 km from Czarnobyl and called "a city of ghots". The article shows a big power of nature and that we are so small in a comparison between us and it.

So what's about the world without people?

10 YEARS

At the beggining, trees begin grow in streets and inside our flats. Later concrete and asphalt start crushing itself, what is an effect of the water which freezes and tears cracks. Thanks of crushing, after 4-5 years, on the Earth there is enough spoil to sprount new plants. Within 10 years, trees grow bigger and animals are braver and often go out from forests. What's interesting, a lot of breeded by people, races of dogs, for example dachshunds become extinct. Moreover, dogs are wild and start hunting in flocks. Together with people disappear also cockroaches and rats which life only thanks of our warm flats and waste of our foods.

20YEARS

We notice a slow break-up of construction made of metal, which is caused by a rust. Next the water floods tunnel, undergrounds and buildings' fundaments, what speeds up their break-up.

50 YEARS

Cities are destroyed by fires, and nature is incrementally cleaner. Power stations and factories haven't been working for a long time, so acid rains and smog disappear. Thanks of it, walls of buildings are covered by growths which speed up their break-up. Plaster and mortar fall down from walls and raise a level of soil's pH, which become ideal for fast growing of plants. In the same time, is noticed the break-up of containers with chemicals and leakages radioactive isotopes from nuclear power stations. Pollutions go to the soil and to the atmosphere and in a lot of places there are tained areas.

100 YEARS

The atmosphere become clean, the hole in the ozone layer disappears and the greenhouse effect is stopped. As the result, climat is colder. Animals and plants return to their original forms and they are really difficult to identification.

500-1 000 YEARS

All forms of the human civilisation disapper- there aren't big construction of bridges, dams and bunkers. What's more all the Earth is covered by a dense forest. Just now, die out last tracks of people- packages and bottles made of plastic, are spread.

10 000-100 000 YEARS

Finally, comes the Ice Age and ice razes from the Earth's surface all track of humans' life. It's the end of the human civilisation.
